Louis Caldera has served as vice president of Programs of the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation from July 2010 to present. He served as Director of the White House Military Office in the Obama Administration from January 2009 to May 2009, and as a member of the President-elect’s transition team from November 2008 to January 2009. Louis served as a tenured member of the University of New Mexico Law School faculty (August 2003 to December 2010), as president of the University of New Mexico (August 2003 to February 2006), as vice chancellor for university advancement at The California State University (June 2001 to June 2003), and as Secretary of the Army in the Clinton Administration (July 1998 to January 2001). He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (since 2002) and a former senior fellow of the Center for American Progress (June 2009 to June 2010).

Louis is a former director of A. H. Belo Corporation (December 2007 to January 2009), Belo Corp. (July 2001 to February 2008), IndyMac Bancorp, Inc. (May 2002 to August 2008), and Southwest Airlines Co. (March 2003 to January 2009). Mr. Caldera also served on the board of directors of the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute (2003 to 2009), the board of trustees of Claremont McKenna College (2006-2009) and the National World War II Museum (2007-2009), and on the editorial committee of Democracy, a Journal of Ideas (2006-2009). He resigned these positions upon joining the Obama Administration.
